108 Served Christmas Dinner

In the poor settlement (or "colonia") called Maneadero, a community center continues to bless the indigenous people.  Following are some excerpts from a letter by David Shebley, who with his wife Mardell, is spearheading this worthy cause in the Baja Peninsula.

In the middle of the night (December 25), I was awakened with these soul-searching words, "I WAS HUNGRY AND YOU FED ME NOT," Matthew 25:34-36. I felt God was speaking to all of us...

All around us, be it in the USA or Mexico, there are those who are victims of unmitigated circumstances. Suffering from these ongoing conditions has created a sense of despair. The feel imprisoned in a cell of hopelessness. For them there is nothing to distinguish this day from the day before....

On December 15, we had the Christmas party for the Indian Community. It was above and beyond our expectations. ... we expected to serve about 50 to 60 children... but after counting twice, 108 had crowded in. Others kept coming but had to wait outside and be served through the kitchen window...
